Cloud Targets are used to discover AWS, Azure, Google Compute Platform, and Alibaba Cloud resources for display and management in ParkMyCloud. You may add more than one target to ParkMyCloud. Targets may also be added for one or multiple cloud providers. Your current subscription plan determines the number of cloud targets you may add and manage within ParkMyCloud.
Each cloud target may be assigned a default team. Your subscription plan, targets, and default team information determine what resources are discovered and who can see them in ParkMyCloud. Targets can be added to ParkMyCloud as needed and assigned a default team. A team can be the default for more than one target.
If you are on the free trial period, you will be able to add cloud targets for all three providers for up to 14-days. After that, you will need to be signed up for the Basic Plan to add multiple targets for a single provider.
The Standard or Enterprise Plans are necessary to add cloud targets for multiple cloud service providers (AWS, Azure, and Google) after the free-trial period has expired. For more information about these plans, please see Available Subscription Plans.
A few steps are required before AWS, Azure, Google Compute Platform, or Alibaba Cloud targets may be added to ParkMyCloud. These steps ensure that ParkMyCloud can discover the resources for a target and manage them accordingly. They will vary depending on the provider, and more information can be found on these pages:
Cloud Provider Specific Resources
A Simple Example
For this example, let's say you have two AWS cloud targets and six users. Four users need access to Cloud Target A, and two users need access to Cloud Target B. Here is what you can do:
- Set up two separate teams in ParkMyCloud and add users accordingly.
- Add each target and assign the appropriate team as the default team.
When the targets are added, they will be used to discover your resources. Only users who are assigned to the team will be able to see the resources within the Resources Screen for the target that their team belongs to. Each user's role will determine what actions they can perform for the discovered resources when logged into ParkMyCloud.
A Resource is anything you can manage in ParkMyCloud. This includes single instances, RDS databases, AWS auto scaling groups, Azure Scalesets, and logical groups.
