User Roles & Permissions

Roles define what each user will have access to when logging into ParkMyCloud and what actions they are able to perform within the application. A role must be chosen when adding a new user and can be modified when needed by editing user information

The following table shows what permissions are currently available for each available role you are able to assign to ParkMyCloud users. You can also learn more about actions vs. roles in ParkMyCloud by downloading and viewing this file: ParkMyCloud Actions vs. Roles.

RoleDescription
Super Admin

This role provides full access to ParkMyCloud and is what your account is set up with when it is first created.

A Super Admin can perform the following:

  • Financial Information - View and purchase plans and manage billing for your account.
  • Parking Recommendation Management - View and manage parking settings, ignore recommendations, and apply parking schedules to recommendations.
  • Credential Management - Add, edit, remove and assign credentials.
  • Single Sign-On (SSO) with SAML 2.0 - Configure and manage single-sign on settings in ParkMyCloud.
  • Team Management - Add, remove, and edit teams.
  • Team User Management - Add, import, export, remove, edit, and assign users. 
  • Scheduling Management - Add, edit, and remove schedules.
  • Policy Management - View and manage ParkMyCloud policies.
  • ParkMyCloud Reporting - View the new reporting dashboard, legacy reports, and user audit logs. View individual reports over defined time periods and export as needed.
  • System Level Notifications - Enable and configure system level notifications for Slack or a custom webhook. **These notifications are shared among all super admins for a ParkMyCloud account.
  • Resource Management - Discover resources, set auto scaling group parameter values, manage auto-scaling groups, manage logical groups, manage RDS databases, manage policies, attach or remove parking schedules, snooze parking schedules, start/stop resources, move resources to teams, and manage alerts.

**There can be more than on Super Admin user account in ParkMyCloud.

Team Lead

This role provides more limited access where permissions start with user management and work their way down.

A Team Lead will not be able to view subscription information, purchase or modify subscription plans, or access billing information.

Team Leads can do the following:

  • Parking Recommendation Management - View and manage parking settings, ignore recommendations, and apply parking schedules to recommendations for the teams they belong to in ParkMyCloud.
  • Credential Management - Add, edit, remove, and assign credentials.
  • Team Management - View, edit, and manage the teams they belong to in ParkMyCloud. * A team lead cannot remove teams.
  • Team User Management - Add, edit, and assign users for their own team(s).
  • Scheduling Management - Add, edit, and remove schedules if given permission by the Super Admin.
  • Policy Management - View ParkMyCloud policies.
  • ParkMyCloud Reporting - View the new reporting dashboard and legacy reports. View individual reports over defined time periods and export as needed.
  • Resource Management - Discover resources, manage auto scaling groups, manage logical groups, manage RDS databases, move resources to other teams, attach or remove parking schedules, snooze parking schedules, start and stop resources, and manage alerts.

** A team lead can manage parking recommendations for their teams if they have been given permission by the Super Admin.

** A team lead can add and edit parking schedules if they have been given permission by the Super Admin.

** A team lead can also view policies if they have been given permission by the Super Admin. However, they cannot create, edit, or remove them.

Team Member

This role further limits access for individuals who are part of a team. A Team Member cannot modifying billing, discover resources, manage teams, or access user information.

Team Members can however access their own account information to make certain changes such as a password updates.

A Team Member can do the following within ParkMyCloud:

  • Parking Recommendations Management - View parking recommendations for the teams they belong to in ParkMyCloud. A team member cannot view or manage parking recommendation settings. 
  • Scheduling Management - Access and view parking schedules set up in ParkMyCloud. Team members are not able to create, edit, or remove parking schedules in the system.
  • Resource Management - Attach or remove parking schedules from resources and groups, snooze parking schedules, cancel existing snoozes, start and stop resources, and access their user information.
Purchasing

This role is designed for companies who have a department dedicated to purchasing and billing. It can be assigned to an individual who will need to access ParkMyCloud to purchase a plan and manage the billing for that plan. Purchasing roles only have access to the following:

  • Own Account Information - Update personal user account information including changing their password.
  • Financial Information - View subscription information, view past payments, and update payment information.
  • ParkMyCloud Reporting - View the new reporting dashboard and legacy reports. View individual reports over defined time periods and export as needed.
